The Program
Teach in Asia is the simplest and easiest way to apply to teach English in China. Teach in Asia works closely with Provincial Governments and their Education Bureaus to recruit English teachers. Contracts vary depending on the location of the school. The below information will give you a good guide on what you can expect from your contract.
Education | A Bachelor’s Degree |
Language | Must be a native English speaker (a second language isn’t necessary) |
Certification | A TEFL or TESOL Certification is recommended but not essential. |
Experience | Two or more years’ experience is recommended but not essential. |
Contract Length | The ability to live abroad for at least one year |
Citizenship | To meet China’s legal visa regulations, you must be a citizen of New Zealand, Australia, the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland or South Africa. |
Other | Must be able to obtain a clear background check |
Salary | 8,000 – 16,000 RMB per month |
Holidays | Up to 5 weeks paid holidays (winter holiday plus Chinese official holidays) |
Accommodation | Free furnished accommodation is provided. |
Airfares | Up to 9000 RMB annual flight subsidy |
Visa | One-year Z-visa (employment) |
Insurance | Comprehensive medical insurance. |
Induction / Welcome Pack | Online induction workshop to introduce the place where you are going as well as some tips for living in China. A welcome pack will be prepared for you and you will be given assistance getting set up once you arrive in China. |
The service is free for teachers if they sign up for and complete a 12-month contract. In most cases, schools will request that the teacher purchases their own air tickets and pay for their visa application but will be reimbursed once they arrive at the school. Teachers who fail to complete their 12-month contract will not receive reimbursement for their return airfare.
